Intensive Behaviour Intervention (IBI)

Intensive Behavioural Intervention is a form of behaviour analytic treatment used to enhance the development of young children with autism. Trained therapists provide individualized intensive, natural environment and group instruction to children guided by the clinical application of the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA). Therapy is clinically supervised by a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst and Psychologist.

The goal of this service is to offer high quality, evidence-based IBI as a component of a continuum of services, that ascribes to a child and family centered approach dedicated to increasing the developmental trajectory of children with autism, and increasing the capacity of caregivers to generalize and maintain skills across various environments and settings.

Children under the age of 5, with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder deemed to be at the severe end may be eligible for the IBI program.

Intensive Treatment Support Program (ITSP)

The ITSP is meant for children or youth (up to age 18) diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder who are experiencing a severe level of behavioural difficulties in the home environment.

The goal of the Intensive Treatment Support Program is to put services in place that will focus on prevention and early intervention strategies to support families in keeping their children at home, through the provision of intensive support, to promote capacity building within the home environment.

Intensive Treatment Support may be delivered through:

  • the provision of behavioural assessment and therapeutic treatment to improve the family's overall health and well-being, that allows for the child to remain in the home;
  • treatment that provides the child or youth with the appropriate skills necessary to function appropriately in the home environment.

Availability

The ITSP is only available within the Sudbury District.

How to Get Started

Referrals to this program are accepted only via internal referrals from CCR Clinicians involved with the youth/family. Speak to your designated Clinician for more information.
