� Strategies for dealing with problem behaviour

The purpose of this training is to disseminate methods and strategies to reduce disruptive behavior in children from preschool to adolescence. The skills covered in this training will enable and empower parents to be the change agent, given that they spend the most time with their children. The goal of the training is to reduce disruptive behavior such as tantrums, aggression and so on and increase adaptive living or functioning. The behavior modification techniques we will be covering are based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis and have empirical support in reducing disruptive behavior in children. During training we will cover information on strategies such as positive reinforcement of appropriate behavior, use of daily schedules, specific techniques known to enhance compliance, systematic teaching of new skills and so on.

The objective of this workshop is to provide an introduction to sleep and some of the challenges parents face when it comes to their child or youth sleeping through the night. The instructor will provide two 2-hour workshops to review common protocols for sleep training followed by 30 minutes of consultation weekly for 10 weeks to support implementation of the strategies discussed in the workshops.

The objective of this workshop is to provide an introduction to pre-vocational and vocational skills. This workshop will help the parent/caregiver to brainstorm areas of strength and areas of need for their youth with autism, in an effort to determine what vocational experience might be best for their child. It will review some tips for preparing the youth with autism for a vocational opportunity such as resume building, interviewing and social skills on the job.
