A virtual book club for children with siblings who have an Autism diagnosis. These sessions will use storytelling with children’s books to help family members aged 6-10 learn more about embracing differences and accepting those within the autism community. A new book will be read at each session. The group consists of a storybook reading, a related activity (mailed) and a follow-up caregiver debrief to discuss the story, its themes, and how to respond to questions that may arise later.

Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the importance of visual supports and how they can play and important part in fostering communication with their children at home, daycare, and school. This caregiver training uses a hands-on approach where participants will be provided with several tools that they can take home with them to use with their children following the workshop. Strategies from this workshop can assist with things such as life skills, daily living, skill building, transitions and any other aspects of their life where visuals would be helpful.

Youth DnD Social Group is an opportunity for youths 12-16 with ASD to socialize while participating in the imaginative play associated with participating in Dungeons and Dragons. The first session will be youths creating their character. Following groups will consist of guided game play encouraging teamwork, reciprocal communication and social play. Youths will be encouraged to facilitate independently as much as possible, with a facilitator present for assistance when needed.
This can assist with skill building and confidence.
