This virtual information and Q&A session is intended for parents and caregivers of children or adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder who are interested in learning about anxiety and how it presents in individuals who are on the spectrum. The workshop will focus on increasing knowledge about anxiety and how it impacts one’s life, the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, identifying maladaptive and unhelpful thoughts, reducing avoidance of anxiety-provoking situations, and increasing coping skills. All sessions aim to teach practical skills for caregivers to use in everyday life to better support their child with anxiety.

During an initial consultation, caregivers will meet with the Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) to discuss their goal(s), provide any relevant information about their child, and have the BCBA complete a brief observation of their child.
Caregiver coaching sessions will allow parents to work with the Ignite’s BCBA for up to 3 hours, over the course of four weeks. The goal of caregiver coaching is to support families in developing a goal for their child and to provide 1:1 support in person or via videoconference to meet that goal. Sessions will include a combination of direct caregiver coaching with the caregiver and child, and/or the opportunity for the caregiver to discuss challenges and debrief about recommended strategies.

This cognitive behaviour therapy group is intended for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder aged 8 to 13 years who experience symptoms of anxiety. The group will focus on increasing knowledge about anxiety and how it impacts one’s life, the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, identifying maladaptive and unhelpful thoughts, reducing avoidance of anxiety-provoking situations, and increasing coping skills. All sessions aim to teach practical skills for children to use in everyday life to better manage their worries, in addition to providing parents with tools to support their child. Note: All applicants must undergo an intake interview to determine eligibility.
Teens aged 12-17 who have a willingness and desire to expand their conversation skills.
Conversation Cues is a 12 week evidence-based social skills program for youth aged 12 – 17. Topics include; when to start conversation, maintaining a conversation, talking on topic, taking turns, interested/ not interested, and more.
This training is applicable for parents and/or family members with children ages 18 months-12 years old with a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder.
The objective of this training is to provide an introduction to the basic concepts of applied behaviour analysis. By the end of the training program, the goal is to have participants leave with a set of foundational skills they will require to teach new skills and understand problem behaviour.

This is an introductory session applicable to families interested in learning more about Applied Behaviour Analysis.
Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) is an evidence-based learning approach commonly used in treatment programs for individuals with ASD. This introductory workshop defines and provides examples of common ABA principles. This session focuses primarily on the important role of prompting and reinforcement when teaching new skills.
Service is inclusive for caregivers having children with ASD.
Children and youth with ASD experiencing anxiety are not alone! During this 3-hour training caregivers will learn about anxiety, the various ways it presents in children/youth with ASD and what Cognitive and Behaviour Therapy strategies to use with their child/youth at home. Caregivers will practice strategies and develop a plan to support their child/youth with a specific goal. Two one-hour individualized follow-up consultations are provided following the training.

A 20 hour online course developed as a primer for families. This course is designed to improve the effectiveness of applying ABA strategies in order to better support parents regarding the learning and behaviour of children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder. ASD – What You Need to Know, is a 2 hour long presentation that will explore what the Autism Spectrum, impairments and strengths of individuals with ASD, as well as review strategies to support.

This service is reserved for children who are not actively receiving direct ABA services, or services via telehealth, that are supervised by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
Caregivers will have the opportunity to participate in a 1-hour consultation meeting with the BCBA to discuss their goal(s), provide any relevant information about their child, and have the BCBA complete a brief observation of their child. Following the initial consultation meeting, the BCBA will provide a recommendation(s) for goals and your child will receive ABA therapy in person or via video, with our clinical team, for 3 hours a week, for 12 weeks. ABA skill building sessions will last 1.5 hours and occur twice per week. Caregivers will be provided the opportunity to participate in service and/or to receive coaching on ABA strategies throughout the 12 weeks.
This service is available in English with limited spaces for service available in French.
Diagnosis of ASD. Reserved for children and families who are not engaged in a similar service with another provider.
Focused ABA targets one or two behavioural goals at a time as compared to comprehensive ABA treatment program which targets a wider variety of goals. To begin, you will virtually meet with our BCBA who will help develop programming based on identified goals (joint attention, transitions, communication, self-help skills, play skills, etc.). Over an agreed upon period, our ABA therapists will work 1:1 with your child to help achieve the identified goals. Parents will also have the opportunity to be involved in sessions or BCBA coaching to help generalize learning to the home environment.
Program Format: Initial virtual consult and plan development with a Behaviour Analyst with 60 hours total weekly intervention with an ABA Therapist at the centre to be used as per need of child.

Best suited for children on the spectrum that are interested in creating small wood projects. Are able to attend independently and participate safely while using tools, in a small group setting.
This workshop will support participants in the development of social skills, while also having fun in completing a small building project!
Each session, participants will have one new project per session to complete on their own and to take home. Participants will also have an opportunity to use their imagination and create their project according to their style and abilities.
Objectives will include introduction to protective gear; how to safely use common tools such as a hammer, drill, screwdriver and their proper use; and learning how to follow step-by-step instructions.
These sessions are geared to children and youth between the ages of 5-14 who are able to attend independently and participate in a small group setting in class.
Children on the spectrum that are motivated to interact with peers and enjoy naturalistic (play-based) learning using LEGO©.
This fun, naturalistic intervention uses LEGO© as a medium to teach children the complexities of social interactions. Participants will be grouped with peers based on their strengths in relation to play styles: parallel, cooperative, or collaborative. This group will encourage practice of such skills as:

This service is intended for caregivers of children between 7 to 14 years of age with below average or greater cognitive abilities and fluent language. Available virtually to families in any Northern district – urban, rural or remote.
What is resilience? Resilience is the set of skills and abilities that allow people to cope with challenging situations. Building resilience helps to prevent problems with behaviour and mental health.
Caregivers will assess their child/youth’s resilience and learn about the specific protective factors known to build resilience in children and youth: proactive parenting, emphasizing strengths and achievements, self regulation, social competence and fostering connections, attachment and community. Our approach is evidenced through strength-based Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT).
Caregivers participate in a weekly 1.5-hour webinar for three weeks and receive one 1-hour phone or video consultation to implement individualized strategies with their child at home.
Children aged 7-11 (2nd through 5th Grade)
- One adult is able to attend the weekly sessions with their child and to help them practice skills during the week.

Children’s Friendship Training is a 10-week evidence-based social skills group intervention for children aged 7- 11 years who are motivated in learning ways to make and keep friends. Parents/Guardians attend simultaneous sessions and gain skills to support their child.
Service is suitable for children up to 10 years of age and for parents seeking guidance and support in establishing goals and support strategies.
We aim to aid parents in determining their child’s current ability and next goals by offering in-clinic, brief direct assessment of your child’s functional skills (based on the ABLLS-R).
During a 1-hour session, we will assess your child’s requesting, labeling, imitation, cooperation, play with toys and receptive skills using combination of direct interaction with your child and information gathering with the parent.
A recommendation of teaching targets and strategies will be offered.
Assessments are available in French or English.
Children ages 6-12 years.
Children with identified social communication challenges (Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, Global Developmental Delay)
Pre-requisites include verbal communication, minimal challenging behaviour, and an interest in social interactions and making friends.
Facilitators will complete a pre-screening tool with families expressing an interest in participating.
Children’s Friendship Training is an evidence based interactive program delivered in module sessions in which children and families develop and practice social skills necessary to initiate and maintain meaningful peer relationships.
Through ten modules, children will learn to make phone calls, host play-dates, maintain play, share in the interests of others’, and respond appropriately to bullying/teasing. During these sessions, families will learn how to support their children in the exciting new world of social opportunities.

Attend a workshop with our BCBA providing strategies on helping your child develop healthy sleep habits. Parents can ask questions and discuss concerns specific to their child. Afterwards, families have 2 follow up zoom calls with our BCBA to further personalize the program.
