Agency Description

Established in 2011, Mariani and Associates is a clinic based in Sudbury, Ontario specializing in the provision of psychological services for individuals of all ages and their families. Mariani and Associates is proud to support every individual who comes through our doors. We are flexible in tailoring our approaches to the individual differences of each and every client. We are committed to excellence in the provision of evidence-based interventions. Our services have helped many clients with diverse backgrounds including, but not limited to, First Nations and Metis, clients who identify as LGBTQ2+, individuals with physical or intellectual disabilities, first responders, and military veterans.

Our team consists of doctoral-level psychologists, Master’s level clinicians, and experienced administrative staff. We also take pride in identifying our clinic as a training facility and we welcome many graduate-level psychology students and medical students to learn valuable clinical skills and/or to attain research experience.

At Mariani and Associates, we work collaboratively with various multidisciplinary teams and agencies, including physicians, allied health professionals, schools, rehabilitation companies, insurance companies, law firms, WSIB, RCMP, Veteran’s Affairs Canada, and other employers to identify the sources of an individual’s psychological difficulties and to coordinate personalized treatment plans to support a return to optimal well-being, and to foster growth and adaptation. Our catchment area ranges from Parry Sound to Timmins, and from Sault Ste. Marie to North Bay. Video and telepsychology options are available to support clients who live in more rural communities in Northern Ontario.

 

 

Therapist Descriptions

 

Dr. Stephanie Price, Ph.D., C.Psych.

Dr. Price, a clinical psychologist at Mariani and Associates, has completed her Ph.D. in School and Clinical Child Psychology at the University of Alberta, and attained her M.A. in Applied Psychology and
B.A. in Psychology from Laurentian University. She has also received specialized training in Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) from Brock University. She completed a pre-doctoral residency in clinical psychology with children and adults with developmental disabilities at Surrey Place Centre in Toronto. Past training and clinical experiences include Health Sciences North (HSN) in Sudbury, Parkland District School Board in Edmonton, St. Albert Public School Board in St. Albert, Counselling and Psychological Services at the University of Alberta, and in various private psychology practices in Sudbury and Edmonton.

Dr. Price has a broad scope of practice; she has competence in the following disciplines with individuals across the lifespan (infant to adults):

• Mood and anxiety disorders
• Neurodevelopmental disorders
• Trauma
• Delays in growth and development
• Learning difficulties
• Behaviour problems, interpersonal and social skill problems, and adjustment to life changes
• Autism Spectrum Disorder

Dr. Price has particular interest and training in dual diagnosis and working with individuals with developmental disabilities across the lifespan.

Elisa Richer, M.A., C.Psych.Assoc.(Supervised Practice)

Ms. Richer is a Psychological Associate in Supervised Practice working under the supervision of Dr. Matias Mariani and Dr. Stephanie Price.
Ms. Richer completed her post-secondary studies at Laurentian University, obtaining her B.Sc. in Psychology (2009) and her M.A. in Applied Psychology (2014). She is currently in the process of attaining her post-master’s work experience to be eligible for registration as a Psychological Associate with the College of Psychologists of Ontario.
Ms. Richer has clinical experience working with children, adolescents, and adults. She conducts psychological assessments and provides evidence-based interventions for anxiety disorders, mood disorders, eating disorders, stress, and behavioural and emotional problems. Her training and clinical experience have spanned various settings, including in private practice, community-based agency, inpatient psychiatric unit, and post-secondary institution.
Ms. Richer is fluent in English and French.

Marika Renelli, M.A., clinical associate

Ms. Renelli is a Master’s level clinical associate at Mariani and Associates and is currently completing her clinical hours towards registration as a Psychological Associate with the College of Psychologists of Ontario. She participates in psychological assessments and provides psychotherapy to children, adolescents, and adults who experience the following:

  • Mood and anxiety

  • Chronic pain

  • Posttraumatic Stress Disorder and other trauma-related symptoms

  • Interpersonal difficulties

  • Problems coping with stress

  • Behavioural problems and emotional dysregulation

    Ms. Renelli has completed the Clinical-level training for Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, 2nd Edition (ADOS-2).

    Ms. Renelli has conducted research in the areas of eating disorders and Emotion-Focused Family Therapy, and has presented her work at conferences, workshops and peer-reviewed journals. Prior to her Master of Arts degree in Applied Psychology, Ms. Renelli completed a Master of Science Degree

    in Microbiology and has extensive research experience both locally and abroad. In addition to her educational experience, Ms. Renelli has also co- owned and coordinated a harm reduction addictions program for several addiction treatment clinics in Northern Ontario and has been actively involved in the community, including volunteering at a school reading program, organizing a seniors’ healthcare program, and being involved in the governance of a local independent elementary school.

Dr. Matias Mariani, Ph.D., C.Psych.

Dr. Mariani is the director of Mariani and Associates and a fully licensed clinical psychologist and neuropsychologist. Dr. Mariani received his B.Sc. with Specialized Honours in Psychology from York University in 2002, and his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Clinical Neuropsychology from the University of Windsor in 2005 and 2009, respectively. He completed a pre-doctoral residency in Clinical Neuropsychology at the Glenrose Rehabilitation and University of Alberta hospitals in Edmonton, as well as clinical practica at Sunnybrook Health Sciences in Toronto, Centre for Addiction and Mental Health in Toronto, University of Windsor Counselling Centre in Windsor, and Wayne State University Health Centre in Detroit.
Dr. Mariani has a broad scope of practice, which includes evaluating neurocognitive, psychological, and behavioural problems and providing treatment for various psychological difficulties (e.g., trauma-related conditions, depression, anxiety, etc.) and behavioural problems (e.g., impulsivity, tics and other repetitive behaviours, etc.).
Dr. Mariani is fluent in Spanish and English, and can get by in French.
