Committed Caregivers Kick starting Communication

About

Communication is an ongoing, evolving part of parenting a child with ASD. This workshop stresses the importance of functional communication and introduces naturalistic communication strategies that can easily be incorporated into everyday family routines. The facilitator will assist caregivers to identify a developmentally appropriate communication goal.

Caregivers who attend this workshop are eligible for a follow-up, remote consultation (via ZOOM).

Who is Eligible

This session is applicable to families with a young child with ASD (younger than 5) and is best suited for those targeting early communication (pointing, hand lead, word approximations/single words). This service is not intended for youth and/or teens, or for individuals with strong verbal communication skills.

Duration

1.5 hour workshop with 2 follow up consultations – 30 min each
