Today’s announcement from the Provincial Government about plans for the new Ontario Autism Program (OAP) supports many recommendations in The Ontario Autism Advisory Panel Report.
However as families, you have experienced unimaginable stress and challenges as you have waited for specifics on the new OAP. You have experienced the decreases in service capacity that took decades to build in the North.
As an organization, we have had to drastically reduce our service capacity and our team, causing them to have to make difficult decisions for their families.
This has been an unprecedented time of disruption for autism services and we understand many of you may still be wary of more changes and concerned about what happens next.
We hope that the inclusion of CCR on the Implementation Work Group will help ensure that you have access to the services and the talent that you deserve.
We will carefully review today’s announcement and continue to proactively communicate to you while we advocate for a true Northern Strategy that meets the unique needs of our families.
