Last year was an unprecedented time of disruption for autism services and we understand that many of you remain concerned about what will happen in 2020 and beyond.

Since the New Year, we have been in contact with Minister Smith’s office several times to advocate for a true Northern Strategy that will build the required capacity to meet the needs of families while ensuring that talented professionals can feel confident about remaining in the North for the longterm.

In recent days I have also had the opportunity to engage with advocacy groups to understand your needs and discuss creative solutions. Thank you for taking the time to share with me your concerns and recommendations so that, as a member of the Implementation Work Group, I can do my best to reflect them to the Provincial Government as they implement the new Ontario Autism Program (OAP).

Throughout 2020 we will continue to proactively communicate with you as we work together to help ensure that families in the North get access to the quality services and talent that you deserve.

With respect and gratitude,
